Facilities and Guest Services

At the Abbey Guest House we understand what it is to be a traveller and when you arrive with us we like to greet you with a welcome drink and some kind of home baking to help you settle in.  We are very happy to provide help with what to see in the city and in the surrounding area and also to give you recommendations for where to eat at lunch and dinner.

Our bedrooms are equipped with most things that you will need during your stay – tea and coffee making facilities, biscuits, chocolates, colour tv with free view channels, fresh flowers, a hairdryer, towels and toiletries all help to make you feel at home.  Each room has a fan for the hot weather and extra blankets for those who feel the cold.  We can also provide hot water bottles and extra pillows if you need them.  The rooms also have a brochure of useful information on the city of York, it’s attractions and the county of North Yorkshire.

We offer a same day laundry service and also ironing facilities.

Our breakfast has received some rave reviews from our guests.  We offer a full range of breakfast cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit to start your meal.  This is followed, naturally, by the full English breakfast and toast, hot drinks and preserves.  We are happy to provide Vegetarian breakfasts which include veggie sausages and hash browns.  At weekends we often have ‘Breakfast Specials’ such as pancakes, porridge and black pudding.

As a special treat if you are a dog lover you may borrow our small brown Border Terrier, Loofah, who is happy to be taken for a walk or to play in the garden with our guests.
